Visible Bra Straps
Visible Bra Straps, abbreviated as VBS was an Indo-Italian co-production initially but later on was taken over by AEPL as a sole Indian Production. The film was shot in Italy and India with an Italian & Indian Actress and Indo-Italian Crew.
It is story of two women, who would not have even known each other, had their life continued as it is. Their solitude brings them together through web chat. Visible Bra Straps is their point of reference to one’s freedom and other’s bounds.
The film presented Female Expressions in a never seen way in Indian Cinema and was appreciated worldwide. The film took a very bold approach, something which was not easy in those years for an Indian Film.
This was also the First Indian Film to be Shot on the revolutionary camera which later changed the landscape of independent filmmaking, ‘Canon 5D Mk2’.
VBS garnered 25 Official Selections in International Film Festivals including 5 Nominations and 5 Awards in 9 Countries – This was the time when the film festivals selections were not that easy to come by as are currently due to abundance of film festivals in every corner of the world. This also includes Nomination by FFI (Indian Government) as an Official Indian entry to Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2011 at Brisbane, the Oscar equivalents in Asia Pacific.
Shorts International, which is the exclusive buyer of all Oscar Nominated Short films, later acquired the worldwide distribution rights of the film, the first Indian film to be acquired by them. It was truly a pioneer film from India in many aspects some of which were adopted by many other filmmakers down the years.
